Modular bench

The project itself consisted of a live design collaboration between a team of students, karrick district council and zeoftig, a local seating manufacturer. The brief was to

produce a social seating system for the Park lands regeneration project in pool being developed by Karrick.

Each client wanted something different out of the project, Karrick where looking for a low cost, vandal proof solution which could easily be incorporated into any part of the site. Yet Zeoftig where hoping to develop a design which could be produced and sold on a large scale for incorruption into other regeneration projects.

The final design solution is a series of simple, modular die-cast steel frames which site planners fit with timber from the surrounding area, supporting local business, lowering transport and production costs and most of all helping the bench to integrate into its individual site.
